tired

The past couple of days have completely exhausted me. I'm so glad we have a long weekend! Today I was very productive. I finished editing a session, cleaned bathrooms, washed clothes, exercised, and had another awesome session this evening with a real princess.

Agenda for tomorrow is church, picking up A's crib, and watching my dad and D put together the grill we got for CHRISTMAS! It's been boxed up in our garage since Christmas and I'm so glad we'll finally be able to use it. I also plan to finish cleaning our room early in the day so we can start on the nursery. Deran doesn't think it will take long to clean...I'm going to take before and after pictures and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were daaaayyyssss apart!

I think A is getting bigger, well obviously, but I mean I can feel some of the changes. The movements are different and I think the pugs startled her the other morning. They started barking like the crazy pugs they are and she jumped, then settled back in. It made me laugh and I can't wait until she's finally here!!!

I just wanted to post a quick update, pictures to share later. Hope you all enjoy Memorial Day!

50 years

I photographed an amazing couple who are celebrating their 50th year of marriage in 2009. They were high school sweethearts and it was such a treat to get a glimpse of their marriage now. I hope that in another 45 years Deran and I are still as in love as these two.

C & D, congratulations on reaching this milestone. I can't wait to capture the party next month!

it's a mystery

Since acquiring a lawn man several weeks ago our yard has been kept nice and neat...with the exception of some wildflowers. We have yet to fertilize this year and have been plagued by weeds and wildflowers. D took care of the weeds but random yellow flowers have been popping up all over the front yard. I think we all know the back is a lost cause!

Anyway, neither of us really cared because they don't look bad and it's just a few days before the next mowing. Well last night after Deran got home he asked me if I'd plucked all the flowers from the yard because apparently that's what he thinks I would do with the three minutes of spare time I have. Um, no.

And so the mystery is what happened to the dadgum wildflowers? They're completely gone, like they were sucked back into the earth. There's not a petal left! When I pulled into the driveway this afternoon I thought the yard looked naked without those yellow flowers. For now they're gone but I'm sure they'll reappear next week!

Registered

This afternoon D and I finally registered for baby items. We feel totally prepared now. Not. We had no idea what exactly we were looking for, even with a recommended list. She'll have lots of accessories, though maybe few essentials!! We'll learn as we go.

26 weeks +3 days

We stepped outside for a few minutes this evening with the pugs and Deran decided to snap a few pictures. My face is out of the picture and that's really a very good thing. I had on zero makeup and there may or may not be a double chin. Emphasis on the may.

Of course Harper Bea decided to get in on the action and Oscar had just walked out of the shot. I love my pugs!

thankful

This afternoon I'm feeling very thankful for our baby's good health, my job, my family...my life. It's a good one and I'm so lucky it's mine. I'm also feeling thankful for such great clients. I repeat many of the same compliments, but I can't help it if I end up with the greatest people EVER!

Wednesday afternoon I met up with another senior and a couple of family members. J & E, it was so nice meeting you two. With such great co-workers it's no wonder D loves his job! And A, you're so lovely and that always makes my job easy. Thanks! :) Your college options are awesome and I know you'll be successful at either one. Try not to let those folks work you too hard this summer!

Sometimes I don't take the time to say it enough. I don't take the time to thank Him for all of the answered prayers and daily joys. I don't take the time to tell my family and friends how much I appreciate them and enjoy their presence in my life. I don't take the time to walk the dogs and enjoy the nice evenings we've been having, despite the heat, I'm thankful for this weather. I LOVE that summer is right around the corner and it stays light until after 8:00.

Sometimes, I feel so completely and blissfully happy with my life. Then I let worry creep in and I stress over the little things and turn them into big things that are really nothing at all. It's been one of those weeks. But I shouldn't let those little things get to me because it's okay to be happy.
So Happy Friday everyone, make this weekend great!!

his pocket-sized kindle 2.0

He was right, it absolutely fits in his pocket. In fact, I think that's what I like most about his Kindle--it's compact size. It's so small you would never even think he had an electronic reader in his pocket.

cinco de mayo

Today is Deran's 29th birthday. I hope you had a good one D! There are no pictures from dinner--not because D said so--I just got lazy and didn't take my camera. Thanks to all the family members that made it! M, I hope your throat is better...but we are holding it against you. ;) My mom made a delicious cake and I'm still staring at a second piece beside me. We finally got my parents to eat at our favorite sushi place and my mom even tried a piece of my shaggy dog!

Deran got the Kindle 2 for his birthday and thanks to some very generous family and friends, he's already purchased several books. I think it was a great present as he's done nothing but rave about it since it arrived last week. Though I have to say, because of its size it looks more like an outdated electronic device than a new one. Most gadgets seem to be getting smaller but the kindle is on the large side.

I overheard him on the phone tonight telling his friend that he really likes the Kindle 2 (as opposed to the Kindle 3 coming soon) because it "just about fits in my back pocket." I stored this information away and made him prove it when we got home. Seriously, that's when I should've gotten the camera out! There was no hope for the back pocket and he looked incredibly silly when he shoved a corner of it into his front pocket. You make me laugh D, you really do.

Tomorrow is another appointment for the baby and afterwards a little shopping. I have pictures coming soon, really!

pug flu

It's here, I have it. The good news is that it's easily treatable. Give two pugs lots of love daily for...hmmmmm...EVER, and you'll be fine. Sure the treatment is long-lasting, but isn't good health worth it?!

Seriously though, news about the Swine Flu is everywhere. And good grief, tons of school are closed in our great state! I'm happy to report that mine is not one of them. My mom is a nurse so I get lots of updates. :) Basically--avoid crowds and wash your hands.

I have a few photography related things coming soon and it seems as if my weekends through the end of June are booked. At some point in the next two weeks D and I need to go register for baby related things, and also start cleaning out the nursery. It's been the junk room for two years so there's a lot to go through! Our good friend is getting married at the end of the month so we'll be spending some time in LA.
The school year is quickly coming to an end and it's a very busy time at work.

Tomorrow is D's 29th birthday so I'll be back tomorrow with pictures from dinner and fun with family. Happy Birthday Eve Husband, I love you lots!

one year

It's hard to believe it's already been a year since these two were born. I was actually a hall monitor that day for a TAKS test (love the test!) and Deran kept calling on my cell. D & K decided to make their appearance about seven weeks early.

These were actually taken when they got home, after spending 3 weeks in the NICU.

Today is their first of many birthdays. We're headed to their house in a just a bit to wish them a happy day and help with party favors for tomorrow's big celebration. D & M, you guys really got lucky with these two. I think they're keepers.
