six months

And actually, it's closer to seven. It's hard to believe sweet A is already six months old! She was very sweet today and let me take lots of pictures. I'm glad this baby is in my family, I don't think I could get tired of her cute face!

Enjoy your pictures Sister!

best friends

J and M are best friends so we got lots of shots of them together. Thanks again for letting me share in this time with you gals! Best wishes for the future!

j has a tattoo

I had the opportunity to photograph J on Sunday. She is best friends with M from the post below and is also a graduating senior. She was up for anything and gave it her all, even when I asked for crazy laughs and contemplative looks.

I'm really digging the senior sessions right now, I have a few scheduled through February and I'm looking forward to capturing this time in their lives. Time passes so quickly and it's hard to believe it's already been nine years since I was that age!

Don't let this sweet face fool you, J's got a tough side too. She's totally rockin' a tattoo on one of those shoulders that we captured later on!

Thanks J for letting me in on this special time in your life and thanks to your mom, M, for carrying all of your things and helping out!

m

For whatever reason it's really hard for me to come up with adjectives that start with the letter m, so no witty post title. However, I can list a few adjectives that describe the fabulous M. She is funny, smart, gregarious, and she has some mad tree climbing skills (even if it didn't quite work out)!

I photographed M on Sunday and she was so great! Most of my time behind the camera is focused on babies and toddlers so it was a treat to be able to give some direction and have the person understand what I'm asking! :)

Congratulations M on your upcoming graduation! And thank you J, for holding your sweet daughter's clothes, offering suggestions, and spreading the word!

the great pumpkin(s)

Fall is over you say?! These great whites would disagree. I bought these three pumpkins after Halloween at my local grocery store. They were in a basket marked $1.99 and I thought they would make a great addition to my Thanksgiving decorations. (Pay no attention to the unruly mess of weeds that has become my backyard)

I'm a little embarrassed to say that these pumpkins not only stayed stacked at my fireplace through Thanksgiving, but they kept Santa company and helped us ring in the new year. I finally decided it was time to put away the pumpkins this evening and found them to be very resilient! There wasn't a soft spot on a one of 'em! They must have come from the most sincere pumpkin patch to be so hearty.

Farewell pretty pumpkins, you added lots of happiness and style to my holidays!

On a business note, I have two portrait sessions with some awesome senior girls this weekend! I also plan to do my niece's six month photos so it will be a busy weekend. Pictures of people really are coming soon!

because he does this

Deran left this afternoon for a developer competition and an hour or so later when I went in search of another item I knew to be in my car, I found a note.

It's hard to adequately describe our love. After a dozen years together we've been through a lot of ups and downs, we've grown up, we've lived, we've lost...we've just been Deran & Amy. And maybe, just maybe, I'm a tad more emotional than I normally would be--just maybe--but I'm so glad he's my best friend.

And I've read the articles that say listing your husband as your best friend just means you don't have any friends, I'm okay with that! I'm not in junior high anymore (though my bf was AWESOME) and I don't feel the need to run to a girlfriend. Girlfriends are fun and I enjoy my time with them, but Deran is the person I'll always rather spend time with. He loves me and he thinks I'm funny...mostly funny...ok, sometimes he laughs a little...at me.

zzzzzzz

Since being back at work I've felt like doing very little when I get home, hence the lack of posts! I have several upcoming sessions that I can't wait to shoot, including a one year old, a couple of seniors, and a sweet family.

Until then, you'll have to make do with a couple of pictures of my dogs. They really are the best and haven't complained at all about the lack of activity in our house.

It took Oscar quite a while to warm up to having a sister and I can't help but smile to see them being so sweet together after almost two years and lots of growling.

People coming soon, I promise!

finally

I'm happy to announce the new site is complete! I would like to thank Deran for all of his hard work and amazing skills in creating my website. I would also like to thank all of my amazing clients and family who have let me photograph them over the last several months!

I'm super excited to finally be in business and you can go check it out here!

the m family

There's just something about being three! I had lots of fun with little Miss M and her sweet parents. Little M is FULL of spunk and that makes for a great time!

Her parents were very helpful and are so in love with their silly little girl. Thanks M Family, enjoy your photos!

in with the new

Happy New Year everyone! We rang in 2009 on the couch with the pugs watching a pre-recorded countdown. It was great!

Today was spent with family and I think the year is off to a great start. There is much to be done before we return to work on Monday but I plan to enjoy the next three days.

I'm terrible at keeping resolutions so I'm not making any this year. I absolutely have a list of goals, but at least I won't be berating myself if I haven't lost that 20 lbs. by March. Because in addition to being terrible at keeping resolutions, I'm terrible at making realistic resolutions!

Happy wishes for a wonderful 2009!
